Requirements
Check the system versions, storage, network, and account needs of each feature before you rely on it in a session.
System requirements
Page Turner runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 17.0 or later.
Note The app installs under the name
iTurner. Use that name to find it on the Home Screen and in the deviceSettingsapp list — for example when you change a permission or check storage use.
In-app Settings is organised into four tabs: General (account, reading
preferences), Assistant (AI features), Sync (iCloud backup and storage),
and Dev (diagnostics). This page names the tab whenever a requirement is
checked or changed there.
Storage
Importing stores a copy of each picked file inside the app; the original file is not moved or modified. Keep enough free space for:
- the copied score files — large PDFs, page images, and bulk imports add up;
- takes you record in
Recording Studio.
To see what the app is using, open the Sync tab of Settings: the
On this device row shows the total with a per-category breakdown, and
Free up space now merges duplicate re-imported scores and removes orphaned
files no score points to. It asks for confirmation first and does not touch
your annotations.
Files kept in iCloud Drive or another Files provider may need to download before they can be imported. That download is controlled by iOS and the provider, not by Page Turner.
Network
Reading a stored score, turning pages, and annotating work without a connection. These features need one:
- Browsing and opening scores from the
Catalogtab. Convert to Smart Score(PDF → editable notation runs on the conversion service).- Assistant answers that use the cloud service. With
Apple Intelligence (on-device)turned on in theAssistanttab, answers the on-device model can handle work without a connection. Ask our server when a page is too hard(Assistanttab): when a page can't be mapped on the device, that page is sent to the analysis service to place the tracking bands. Off, you place the bands yourself on those pages.iCloud Backup & Syncin theSynctab of Settings.
Note Cloud page analysis is opt-in. The first PDF import shows a one-time consent sheet (
Enable/Not now); the same switch stays available afterwards in theAssistanttab.

Scan a scoredoes not appear in theAdd scoremenu at all — it is absent, not disabled.
Note
Apple Intelligence (on-device)is free: it runs entirely on the device, with no account and no usage limits. On devices without Apple Intelligence support, the assistant uses the cloud service instead, which needs network access.
Page pedals
Page-turn pedals — AirTurn, PageFlip, Donner, and the like — pair with your
iPad as a Bluetooth keyboard in the device Settings, under Bluetooth. Once
paired, they turn pages in Page Turner with no extra setup and no
in-app permission request. Pedal and face-gesture options live in the
reader's Toolbox, not in the app Settings tabs.
Accounts
Two separate sign-ins matter, and they are easy to confuse:
Apple Account(in-app) — Sign in with Apple, at the top of theGeneraltab of Settings. Signing in unlocks PDF → MusicXML conversion beyond the anonymous free allowance and contributing scores to the public library.- iCloud (device-level) — the account the device itself is signed in to.
It backs
iCloud Backup & Syncin theSynctab and the iCloud Drive locations in the Files picker.
Important Signing in with
Apple Accountinside the app is separate from being signed in to iCloud on the device. A feature may depend on one, both, or neither.
