Every action in Page Turner has its own data path and its own control. Nothing here is one master switch: use this page to find the action you care about, see what it sends, and locate the exact setting that governs it.

What leaves the device, and which control governs it

Follow's live audio

While a Follow session runs, the microphone audio streams to the alignment service in real time — that transport is how the tracker matches your playing to the score, so it is part of the feature, not an option inside it. The stream starts when the session starts and stops when the session stops.

Limit Turning Share follow audio for model training off does not make Follow an offline feature. That switch only controls whether a session's audio is kept for training; the live transport used for alignment runs in every Follow session regardless.

The two Follow sharing switches

Both switches live in the same place and are independent of each other:

1. Open Settings and choose the General tab.
2. Scroll to the Following section.
3. Set each switch:
   • Share anonymous follow data — on by default. After a session, it sends which piece you followed, timing samples of how the tracker moved, and how long tracking was lost. The payload contains no audio and nothing identifying your account. Turn it off and nothing is sent.
   • Share follow audio for model training — off by default. Turn it on and your next Follow sessions are recorded on the service to train a better follower, capped at five minutes of audio per session. Turn it off and recording stops for future sessions.

Changing either switch takes effect at the next Follow session, not retroactively for one already running.

Cloud help for hard pages

Follow needs to know where the lines of music sit on each page. Two settings in Settings › Assistant › AI features decide how that mapping happens:

• Find the lines of music automatically — runs on your iPad; the page is analyzed locally and nothing is sent.
• Ask our server when a page is too hard — a separate consent switch. When your iPad cannot map a tricky page on its own, that page is sent to the analysis service to finish the job. With this off, you place the tracking bands yourself on those pages — the feature degrades to manual, it does not silently upload.

The assistant: on-device or cloud

The score assistant can answer from two places, and one switch decides which is preferred:

1. Open Settings and choose the Assistant tab.
2. In AI features, set Apple Intelligence (on-device).

With the switch on, questions the on-device model can handle are answered entirely on your iPad — free, with no account and no usage limits, and nothing sent. With the switch off, or for questions the on-device model cannot handle, the cloud assistant answers instead, and your question plus the relevant score context go to that service.

Limit Apple Intelligence requires an iPad whose chip supports it. On other devices the switch appears disabled and every assistant question uses the cloud service — the setting cannot force on-device answering onto unsupported hardware.

Two Apple accounts, two different jobs

Page Turner can involve two separate Apple identities. Confusing them is the most common reason a feature seems mysteriously on or off:

• Apple Account (Sign in with Apple) — the in-app sign-in in Settings › General, shown as Apple Account · Signed in or Not signed in to Apple Account. It unlocks PDF → MusicXML conversion and contributing to the public library. Sign out of Apple Account affects only those features.
• Your device's iCloud account — used by iCloud Backup & Sync in the Sync tab to back up your library to your own iCloud. It is managed in the iOS Settings app, not by the in-app sign-in.

Signing out of one does not sign you out of the other.

Local data, backup, and cleanup

Imported scores, annotations, takes, versions, and calibration data live on the device. If your iPad is signed in to iCloud, iCloud Backup & Sync is on by default and copies that whole package — scores, annotations, calibration, recordings — to your own iCloud: a full pass each time you launch the app, then new changes as you make them, without you starting anything. Turn it off in the Sync tab to stop that. The remaining transfer paths are ones you trigger yourself: the visible iCloud Drive folder, Export my library (.zip), a conversion, or a share action. Clear cache and Free up space now delete only regenerable files and merge duplicate re-imports. They never remove your scores, recordings, or annotations.

Share and export

A share or an export hands over the file or package you selected, to the destination you pick in the system share sheet.

Important Submit only material you are authorized to process or share. Copyright and licensing do not change when a file is imported or converted.
