# Edit and export a score Rearrange, crop, and clean PDF pages, then share a file, an annotated PDF, or a full score package, and print with your annotations included. > Type: How-to · Status: Beta · Platforms: iPadOS 17+ · Last reviewed: 2026-07-18 ## Where the file tools live Every file operation for the open score starts in the reader's `Toolbox` (the wrench button in the top bar). Its `Edit This Score` section holds `Rearrange pages`, `Crop`, `Dewarp & Clean`, `Share`, and `Print`. Page edits always go through an explicit save step, so the file you started from can stay untouched. > **Limit** `Rearrange pages`, `Crop`, and `Dewarp & Clean` edit a PDF. On a piece with no PDF version they are unavailable: `Rearrange pages` and `Crop` are dimmed with the hint `Needs a PDF version of this score.`, and `Dewarp & Clean` with `Needs a PDF version (a scanned or photographed score).` A Smart Score's notation is corrected through its own tools instead — see [Smart Score overview](/docs/smart-score/overview). ## Rearrange, rotate, or clean pages 1. Open the `Toolbox` and select `Rearrange pages`. 2. Drag a page card to its new position. 3. Use a card's own buttons to rotate that page, duplicate it (the copy is inserted right after it), or delete it. Delete is disabled while only one page remains. 4. Use the bottom bar for whole-document actions: rotate all pages left or right, `Add page` (appends a copy of the last page), and `Clean`. 5. Select `Save As…`, then `Save as new version` to keep the version you opened and switch to the edited copy, or `Save as current version` to overwrite the open version in place. The reader reloads the saved result immediately. `Undo` and `Redo` step back through every edit, including a `Clean` run. `Clean` straightens skewed pages and trims white margins automatically, then reports what it changed — for example `Cleaned · straightened 2, trimmed 4 of 12 pages`, or `Already clean — nothing to trim.` > **Important** Review the pages after `Clean` before saving. Automatic trimming can remove intentionally wide margins or marks that sit close to a page edge. ## Crop pages 1. Open the `Toolbox` and select `Crop`. 2. Drag the crop frame over the visible page. The arrows under the page move between pages; the counter shows your position (`Page 1 / 12`). 3. Frame each page separately, or turn on `Apply to all pages` to reuse one frame everywhere. `Reset` clears the frame. 4. Select `Save As…`. The crop is written as a new PDF version; the version you opened keeps its full pages. ## Straighten a photographed score `Dewarp & Clean` is for scores that entered your library as phone photos or rough scans. Clean publisher PDFs usually don't need it. 1. Open the `Toolbox` and select `Dewarp & Clean`. 2. Choose what to fix. `Correct perspective (dewarp)` flattens a page photographed at an angle or curved; `Auto-clean for legibility` converts to grayscale, lifts contrast, and sharpens for crisp black-on-white. 3. Select `Preview`. The `Before` and `After` columns compare the first page while the whole document is processed; a progress bar tracks the run. Change the switches and select `Re-run` to compare settings. 4. Select `Save as new version`. The cleaned copy is saved as a new version of the piece; the original stays attached, so you can switch back. > **Limit** `Dewarp & Clean` processes at most 80 pages per PDF; split a longer document and run it on each part. It changes only the page image, never the notes — for wrong or missing notes after a conversion, see [Fix a wrong conversion](/docs/smart-score/fix-conversion). ## Share `Share` in the `Toolbox` opens the system share sheet with the score's file. The full set of export choices lives in `Properties` — tap the piece title in the reader top bar, then select the share button: - `Share file` expands a list of every file attached to the piece — the source PDF, each saved version, MusicXML or MEI. Pick one to send it as-is. - `Share annotated PDF` builds a copy with your Apple Pencil ink baked in, so any PDF viewer shows what you drew. The row reads `Baking annotated PDF…` while it builds. - `Share score package` assembles a portable `.ptbundle` containing the score files, metadata, annotations, anchors, alignment traces, Follow calibration, and recordings. Another Page Turner user can open it as a complete piece. - `Invite to collaborate…` shares the piece through iCloud so another person works on the same copy — score, annotations, and practice assignments included. A cloud-only piece must be opened once on this device first. Every export is a copy. Edits you make afterwards in Page Turner are not reflected in a file you already sent — export again. ## Print 1. Open the `Toolbox` and select `Print`, or use `Print Score…` in the `Properties` share menu. 2. Leave `Print Annotations` on to include your ink, or turn it off for a clean copy. The choice is remembered for your next print. 3. Select `Print` for the system print flow (AirPrint), or `Share PDF` to send the same printable file somewhere instead. A PDF piece prints its source file directly. A Smart Score with no PDF version is engraved into a printable PDF on the spot — `Engraving score PDF…` appears while it renders. A movement you saved as its own piece prints only that movement's pages, not the whole volume. If the annotated copy can't be prepared: - When your ink can't ride along on this print, the sheet prints the plain score and says so: `Your annotations can't be added to the print here yet — printing the score itself.` - When building the annotated copy fails outright, `Print` and `Share PDF` pause instead of handing you an unannotated copy silently. Select `Continue with the plain score` to go ahead without annotations. > **Note** A cloud piece needs a local copy before it can print. Open it once on this device, then return to `Print`.
