# Browse the catalog

Explore the shared classical catalog of about 25,000 works, filter it by period, form or difficulty, and follow pieces without importing files.

The `Catalog` tab of the library holds a shared collection of about 25,000 classical works, ranked by how central each work is to the repertoire. Browsing it never adds anything to your own library — it is a place to look things up and read from.

## Find a work

1. In the library, switch to the `Catalog` tab.
2. Use the same grouping and filter chips as `My Library`: period, form, instrument, tonality, difficulty (Beginner to Virtuoso), and importance.
3. The importance sliders read the catalog's editorial score — 50 marks a notable work, 75 a major one, 90 the canon.
4. Tap a work to open it; tap its info button for the same Properties panel your own pieces use.

The `All` tab shows your library and the catalog together in one alphabetical list.

## What you can do with a catalog piece

- **Read it** when the catalog holds a score for it.
- **Follow it** — catalog pieces with a score work with live Follow like your own pieces.
- **Collect it** — add it to any collection; the row keeps living in the cloud until you open it.
- **Hide it** — `Remove from view` hides a row you never want to see; the work itself stays in the catalog.

> **Limit** A catalog row is not a file on your iPad. Reading and following need a network connection the first time a piece's score is fetched.
