# Bulk import and review

Review detected titles, composers, catalogue matches, and version matches after importing several scores at once.

When you import several files at once — up to 40 — Page Turner checks each file against the built-in composer catalogue as part of the import. If at least one file is recognized as a specific catalogued work, a `Review imports` sheet opens after the import finishes; if none is — common for works outside the catalogue — the batch imports without a review, as described in [When the review does not open](#when-the-review-does-not-open). Every score is already in `My Library` with its detected title and composer applied; the review is where you correct detection mistakes and decide what to do with scores that match something you already have. ## Review the batch

1. The `Review imports` header counts the batch for you: `40 scores just imported · 3 reviewed`.
2. Select a score in the list. On iPad the list and the score's details sit side by side; on iPhone the score opens on its own screen — return with the `Imports` back button.
3. Check the first-page preview against the detected title and composer. Correct any field directly in the properties form below — the same fields as [Score metadata](/docs/library/metadata).
4. Mark the score checked with `Validate` next to the preview, or tap the circle beside its row in the list.
5. If the remaining entries look right, `Validate all` marks the rest in one step.
6. Select `Done` to close the review, or `Cancel` — beside it in the header — to close it without applying your `Attach as version` choices.

`Done` also applies any `Attach as version` choices you left in place (next section). `Cancel`, or swiping the sheet down, closes the review without attaching anything: every import stays in `My Library` as its own score. Either way, nothing you imported is removed — the review never undoes the import itself.

> **Note** Titles and composers are detected from the filenames, on the device. A batch of descriptive filenames needs little correction; a batch of `scan001.pdf`-style names needs its titles typed in here.

## When an import matches a score you already have

A row marked `Version?` was detected as the same work as a score already in your library. Its detail view shows a panel starting with `Looks like a new version of` and two choices:

- `Attach as version` — the default. The import is filed under the existing score instead of appearing as a duplicate row.
- `Keep separate` — the import stays as its own score. You can still merge the two later from the library.

The choice is applied when you tap `Done`, not when you tap the button. Page Turner only proposes an attach on a strong match — the same catalogue number, or a near-identical title and composer — so a weak resemblance imports as a separate score rather than being folded in silently.

## Catalogue matches

A row marked `Catalog` was recognized as a specific work in the built-in composer catalogue, and its detail view shows a `Matched to the catalog` line above the `Validate` button. The match fills in metadata — title, composer, catalogue number, key — from the catalogue entry; it does not mean you already own a copy.

> **Limit** Catalogue matching contacts the Page Turner server during the import, one lookup per file. Without an internet connection the batch still imports normally — with filename-detected metadata only, and no review sheet.

## When the review does not open

Two kinds of batch skip the review and import as-is through the progress sheet, with filename-detected metadata:

- a batch of up to 40 files in which no file was recognized in the catalogue;
- a drop of more than 40 files, which is too large for the per-file catalogue lookup.

The scores still land in `My Library` the same way. Afterward:

- If some scores ended up without a composer, Page Turner offers an organization review covering just those scores.
- Correct individual entries with [Score metadata](/docs/library/metadata).

## After the review

- Use [Organize scores](/docs/library/organize) to `Merge`, `Concatenate`, `Merge as movements`, or `Link as set` related entries.
