# Practice with reference recordings

Listen to cited recordings recommended in the chat, and replay your own recorded takes against the score — two different tools for the same goal.

Two kinds of recordings help you practise: performances by others, recommended with sources, and your own takes, replayed against the score.

## Recordings recommended by the chat

Ask `Ask the Score` for an interpretation or the best recording of the piece. Real, listenable recordings are attached under the reply — Apple Music Classical entries first when available, then web players you have saved. Each recording is a cited source that plays from where it lives; recordings belong to their performers and labels.

## Replay your own takes

A take you recorded in the Recording Studio replays in the reader with the score following along:

1. Open the piece and choose `Replay a take` in the Follow preset.
2. The transport reads `Play` — it replays the saved recording. It does not listen to the microphone; that is what `Follow` does in a live session.
3. Your takes stay anchored to the score, so the page and position track the recording as it plays.

> **Note** Takes are recorded on this iPad and stay on it unless you turn on backup in the Sync tab.
